Smart Packaging Solutions is pleased to announce a consolidation of its market presence in Asia with the appointment of Alex Chung as Chief Representative Greater China & South East Asia, and the selection of GSight as Exclusive Agent for China.
ROUSSET, FRANCE, December 3, 2012 – As a means to improve its service to customers in the Asia Pacific area, and to support this booming market, Smart Packaging Solutions has appointed Alex Chung as Chief Representative Greater China & South East Asia and selected GSight as Exclusive Agent for China.
Alex joins SPS with a strong background and experience within the smart card industry.
After graduating in Engineering and an MBA in the mid-eighties in the UK, Alex joined IBM as an account manager. In the late eighties to early nineties, he moved to Taipei as Acer’s International Marketing Manager. Then, he held several managing positions in Gemplus Asia Pacific, Motorola, ActivIdentity, Bluefish Technologies and Smith Micro Software. In early 2010, Alex joined ViVOtech as head of their NFC Software and Services division for Asia Pacific Japan.
Alex will be in charge to expand the SPS business in the Chinese market and to ensure the SPS local presence in the South East Asia.
At the same time, SPS is happy to announce the selection of GSight as Exclusive Agent in China. Headquartered in Tianjin, China, GSight specializes in supplies for the smart card industry. GSight has established records in supplying smart card manufacturing machines, RFID label and ticket converting machine, adhesive for smart cards manufacturing, lamination plates and films, and materials such as PVC, PETG, and polycarbonate for card manufacturing.
The Chinese market is bound to explode in the near future as banking cards in China are to be replaced by smart cards by 2015. SPS has already developed a dedicated smart card platform, including dual technology, complete with chips supporting the JavaCard-based PBOC 2.0 operating system, and inlays benefitting from its EBooster® technology that guarantees ease of integration and reliability. SPS has already verified the consistence of its products with PBOC / China UnionPay specifications.
